What a fantastic morning P1 had at Plant and Play Wildlife Garden in Bangor!
We had been learning in school all about bugs and plants and had set up a wormery to watch the worms making soil and also a Bug Garden with live caterpillars, so our outing was really to have fun reinforcing some Science facts and make more investigations.
Vikki, who is in charge, told us lots of fun facts about bees and wasps, butterflies and moths, snails and worms and then we made a Life Cycle chart about Ladybirds.
We went outside into her really interesting garden looking for various minibeasts and comparing them and then we smelled various herbs that were growing and tried to guess what they were.
Later on we heard a story about unusual vegetables and then we each planted a pot of Marigold seeds to take back to school.
But the highlight of our day was observing Pixie Prickles, the hedgehog which was very sleepy but managed to wake up enough to nibble some dog food and show us her claws and twitchy nose.
It was a beautiful sunny day and we came back to school having had such fun and having learned so much.
