Trip to Knotts Bakery

Our P7 boys recently took on an exciting leadership role as they planned and organised a special trip to Knotts Bakery for some of our youngest learners in P1 and P2. The outing was designed to support real-life learning, helping the boys develop confidence with money and simple maths skills in a practical setting.

In the weeks leading up to the trip, P7 worked together to carefully plan the visit. They considered budgeting, discussed suitable items for younger children to buy, and thought about how to support them during the experience. Their preparation ensured the day ran smoothly and that all children felt confident and included.

At the bakery, P1 and P2 had the opportunity to spend their own money, choosing from a range of delicious treats. With the help and guidance of the P7 pupils, they practised counting coins, paying for their items, and working out change. It was wonderful to see the older pupils taking responsibility as they supported and encouraged the younger children throughout.

The trip was a fantastic example of collaborative learning across the school. Not only did P1 and P2 gain valuable experience in handling money, but P7 also developed important life skills such as leadership, communication and organisation.

A big well done to our P7 pupils for planning such a successful trip, and to all the boys for representing the school so positively in the community!
